Can You Workout on a Juice Cleanse? Safe Exercise Tips

Juice cleanses and exercise need to be balanced carefully, but it is possible to undertake both at the same time. In fact, there are many different exercises that you can try out in a safe manner.  Here at PUR Cold-Pressed, we understand that many people are concerned about having to change their lifestyles in order to sustain on a juice cleanse. However, it isn’t as hard as you think, just scale it back and slowly adjust to an optimum level that suits your body’s needs.

To help you get started, here are some tips to keep you safely exercising even whilst on a juice cleanse.

Avoid High-Intensity or Strenuous Workouts

On the first few days of your juice cleanse, try to avoid high-impact exercises or long strength training exercises. We understand that this can be the normal routine for many people, however, it is important not to stress your body out too much when you are consuming fewer calories than normal. While you might be able to get your workout in, you are definitely risking issues like higher levels of fatigue and dehydration as well as putting yourself at risk of injuries for pushing yourself too hard.

Instead of high-intensity workouts, it is a good time to try out other forms of exercise like Pilates, restorative yoga, and other forms of light movement. This means that you can continue to maintain your strength and muscles without overtaxing your body during this period of lowered nutrient intake.

Exercise in the Morning

We would recommend that you exercise in the morning as you are more likely to have higher levels of energy when you get sufficient sleep at night. After all, you should feel well-rested after a good night’s sleep. By exercising in the morning, you can also be able to better gauge your energy levels for the rest of the day and arrange your different activities to suit you without compromising on your workout.

Avoid Exercising on an Empty Stomach

Always make sure that you are exercising after having had some form of caloric intake. When you choose to work out on an empty stomach, you are burning energy without having an intake of calories to replace what you have used up. This means that if you overexert and utilize too much energy during the workout, you can experience low blood sugar levels that can lead to you feeling lightheaded.

Drink Water

Just because you are consuming a lot of liquid from the juices, doesn’t mean that you do not need to drink water. Staying hydrated is essential whenever you are planning to exercise in order to replenish the water loss from sweating. We would recommend around eight to ten cups of water each day as well as herbal tea throughout the day.

At PUR Cold-Pressed, we offer juice variations with added vegan protein to boost your caloric intake. In particular, our Almond Vanilla Mylk + Protein packs 150 calories in the eight oz option. This makes it perfect for a meal replacement!
